My objective is to study the origin, clothing and style of the ''Glam Rock'' and of the ''Zooties'', and to make a collection of their fashion and how it may been redefined today.

Glam rock a term often used to describe a genre of music, not only describes the physical appearance of members of the subculture but also embodies their attitudes and reactions towards the outside world. A style of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s was performed by musicians who wore outrageous costumes, makeup, and hairstyles, particularly platform shoes and glitter. The flamboyant clothing and visual styles of performers were often camp or androgynous, and have been described as playing with other gender roles. Glitter rock was a more extreme version of glam. The UL charts were inundated with glam rock acts from 1971 to 1975. Other British glam rock artists include David Bowie, Mott the Hoople, Sweet and Gary Glitter. Those not central to the genre, such as Elton John, and Freddie Mercury, are also adopted glam styles.

 

Zooties culture originated in the late 30s and throughout the 40s in New York and Southern California. In the meantime, during 40's came up Zouzou in Paris influenced by Zooties. The men look the ''Zoot Suit'' was an extra large jacket, oversize trousers, colored ties and socks, creepers shoes, sunglasses, slicked back hair and a pencil-thin moustache. This style of clothing became popular in African/American, Mexican American, and Italian American communities during the 1930s.
